The relevant department recognized the problem, noting that for many years the Razumnaya River has been experiencing a strong anthropogenic impact.
“The main source of pollutants is wastewater from the city sewage treatment plant in the city of Belgorod. As a result, the estuarine part of the river is very silty. Currently, the river has almost lost the ability to cleanse itself. The main challenge is to develop a set of measures aimed at improving the ecological condition of the river” - says the response received by ecologists signed by Yulia Shchedrina, first deputy head of the agro-industrial complex and environmental reproduction department.
According to the department, a comprehensive approach is required to solve the problem: reducing the volume of incoming waste, removing bottom sediments, cleaning the coastline, creating water protection zones and coastal shelterbelts. The main measure will be the phased improvement of the wastewater treatment system. We'll keep monitoring the situation. We have planned additional sampling on the Razumnaya river.
